About the role
As a Freelance UI/UX Designer, you will own the end‑to‑end design process—from user research and wireframes to high‑fidelity prototypes and hand‑off specs. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate user needs and business goals into elegant, accessible interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- User Research & Discovery
- Conduct interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability tests to uncover user pain points and workflows
- Synthesize research findings into personas, journey maps, and actionable insights
- Information Architecture & Wireframing
- Create low‑fidelity wireframes and sitemap proposals to define structure and navigation
- Iterate rapidly based on stakeholder feedback and user test results
- Visual Design & Prototyping
- Develop high‑fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes in Figma (or equivalent)
- Define and maintain a consistent design system: colors, typography, iconography, components
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering on feasibility, responsive layouts, and implementation details
- Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and regular syncs with product and development teams
- Usability & Accessibility
- Ensure all interfaces meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
- Conduct heuristic evaluations and A/B tests to measure and improve UX
- Design Documentation & Handoff
- Export design specs, redlines, and interactive prototypes for engineering
- Keep design assets organized, versioned, and accessible in your preferred design tool
Must‑Have Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional UI/UX design experience, preferably in B2B or consumer‑facing products
- Mastery of Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven ability to produce:
- Wireframes and user flows
- High‑fidelity visual designs
- Clickable prototypes (InVision, Figma, Principle, or similar)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- Complex information architectures
- Delightful micro‑interactions and animations
- Responsive and mobile‑first design
- Solid understanding of user‑centered design principles and accessibility best practices
- Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration (Slack, Zoom, Asana/Jira)
Bonus Skills
- Experience with front‑end technologies (HTML/CSS, React) for better hand‑off
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries (Storybook, Zeroheight)
- Motion design skills (After Effects, Lottie)
- Background in user research methodologies or analytics tools (Hotjar, Mixpanel)
